Showing someone that they are valued improves self worth.

Showing someone that they are valued improves self worth. This theme statement is proven in the story, ‘Thank you, Ma’am’. In this story, a boy named Roger tries to steal Luella Bates Washington Jones’ pocketbook. Instead, of being mad like many people would usually be, Luella drags him home and treats him nicely by giving him food and sharing stories of her life.

The movie, ‘Make a difference’, is about a troubled boy, named Teddy who can’t concentrate in school because of his mother’s death. His teacher, Mrs. Thompson, doesn’t really help him much and when she grades his work, she gives him an ‘F’. But one day, while reading her students’ files, she finds out that Teddy’s mum died and that his father doesn’t really show much interest toward him. Mrs. Thompson starts to treat him better and helps him with his work and helps him with his work. The theme statement fits this movie as she starts to treat him nicely and he improves in his work and class. This shows that if you treat people nicely they will be a better person in the future.

These two sources are similar as they both talk children who make the wrong choices and how two woman help them. I think what the source tells us about human behaviour is that people ‘judge a book by its cover’ meaning people always take in the outside of others, they never take the time to see who and what the person inside is about.

One's true identity is inherently evil
One's true identity is inherently evil. This is one of the main theme's in the story, Lamb to the Slaughter. Mary Maloney, the protagonist, is a very calm and loving wife for her husband, Patrick Maloney. Mary and Patrick live a happy life until one day, her husband Patrick Maloney, tells her that he is leaving her. Mary Maloney is shocked and when her husband snaps at her, she gets really angry and kills him with a frozen leg of lamb. When the police come to investigate, she feeds them the leg of lamb. By doing this, she covers up her evidence of her murder. When the police asks her questions, she keeps denying that she knows anything about the murder. By denying it to the police, she also convinces herself that she didn't do anything.
This picture, shows a lady with double-sided personality. The right side of her face shows, goodness and the left side of her face shows evil. This describes Mary Maloney as she has double sided personality. She was good when she was a 'perfect' wife, serving her husband, setting the table and making her husband comfortable when he comes home from work. Her evil side really comes out when and after she kills her husband. When she kills her husband, it shows that she isn't a 'perfect' wife. After killing her husband, she tries to cover up evidence that she killed him which shows evilness.
