How does ethnocentrism cause conflict?

Ethnocentrism can cause a lot of conflicts depending on the way one culture ‘sees’ another. If one culture does not accept another culture and the differences between them, then there would be alot of conflicts that could sometimes lead to civil war or other such things. For example, in the movie, The First Australians, the British saw the Aboriginals as wierd because of the way they talked, dressed and acted. Instead of accepting the ways the Aboriginals lived, the British tried to change them. At this point, the Aboriginals found the British as evil people because they were taking over land and ordering for changes to happen to the way the Aboriginals lived. The British treated the Aboriginals like animals as they chopped down crops, ordered their soldiers to take away the children and sometimes even kill family member, mostly women and children. Because the British were treating the Aboriginals this way, the Aboriginals tried to resist them and because of this, most of them were taken away from their familes and made to work for the British. If the British and the Aboriginals had both taken the time to understand each other, there wouldn't have been war or hatred between these two countries.
